The CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network report (2023) indicates the prevalence rate of ASD is now one in 36, with notably higher rates amongst minority groups.
While this report, based on data from 8-year-old children across 11 communities in the U.S., highlights a rise in the number of children diagnosed with ASD, the inclusion of children from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds is a positive sign we are moving closer to a world with equitable access to diagnostic services and care for all individuals at risk for or with ASD.
To continue to close this gap, Els for Autism is committed to ensuring equitable access to early detection, early intervention, and evidence-based services across the lifespan for individuals with ASD and their families across ethnic groups and socio-economic backgrounds.
