Programmes and therapies
Every learner has a plan built around their strengths and needs, with classes, therapy and life skills woven into one structured day.
How we teach
We meet each learner exactly where they are. We break concepts down, build confidence step by step and teach in the way each child understands best, so every learner can progress at their own pace.
- A stage-based curriculum for learners with special needs
- An individual education plan (IEP) for every learner
- Therapy programmes that run alongside classes
- Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)
- Preparation for the national KILEA assessments, where our candidates have done the school proud

Therapies
Therapy is part of the school day, not an extra. Our therapists work closely with teachers and parents so that progress in therapy carries into the classroom and the home.
Speech and language therapy
Helps learners understand and use language, using speech, pictures, signs or communication devices.
Occupational therapy
Builds the skills for daily life: fine motor skills, self-care, handwriting and managing sensory needs.
Physiotherapy
Improves strength, balance, coordination and movement, so learners can take part fully in school life.
Behaviour therapy (ABA)
Uses structured, positive teaching to build communication, social and everyday living skills.
Counselling for families
Supports parents and caregivers emotionally and practically through every stage of their child’s journey.
Sports, music, art and chess
Builds confidence, motor skills and friendships. Our learners have taken part in chess tournaments, including the East Africa chess games.
Play, art and celebration
Games like this tower game build turn-taking, focus and hand skills. Art gives our learners another way to express themselves. And because every milestone is a celebration, we celebrate birthdays too.

Life skills, vocational training and seed capital
Our goal is independence. Learners practise everyday skills such as grooming, routines and caring for their belongings, and older learners begin vocational training based on their strengths.
When learners complete their training, we help them take the next step. Eight graduates have already received seed capital to start their own small businesses.
“Each day of study and therapy is a seed planted for tomorrow: a foundation for reintegration into society and a life of independence and dignity.”
Samson Kiiru, Director

A day at our school
A predictable routine helps our learners feel safe and ready to learn. A typical day looks like this:
- Wake up, grooming and breakfast
- Morning assembly
- Classroom lessons and individual therapy sessions
- Porridge break, lunch and fruit breaks
- Afternoon lessons
- Evening play and recreation
- Dinner and bedtime, with caring boarding staff
